NWAC recognizes that Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA people are impacted by systemic discrimination. This discrimination is rooted in colonialism and racism.

Our Goal

The goal of our Restoring the Circle training program is to facilitate the provision of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and intersectional services for, to, and with 2SLGBTQQIA Indigenous people. The program is freely available and is entirely self-led.

The program is also used to help service providers in the gender-based violence sector provide better support 2SLGBTQ+ Indigenous people who have experienced gender-based violence.

Through this program, NWAC wants to ensure that 2SLGBTQQIA people are guaranteed the same opportunity for freedom, peace, and security as any other citizen of our country. We are also working towards an environment where 2SLGBTQQIA people have their unique challenges recognized, can enjoy obstacle free access to all supports and services, and can live safely and comfortably wherever they reside. Ultimately, our goal is to end the systemic violence that impacts Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA people, and their families and communities.
