Summary
The Manager of Volunteers, under the direction of the CEO, will be responsible for managing all NWAC volunteers. The Manager of Volunteer will oversee the delivery of the Volunteer services and programs which may include the recruitment, orientation, training, deployment, and recognition of volunteers. The Manager of Volunteers will lead, grow and expand our volunteers’ programs and initiatives.
Scope
The individual will be responsible for overseeing all volunteers, promoting a culture of volunteerism and assessing the need for volunteers’ programs. The Manager of Volunteers is responsible and accountable for developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating Volunteer resources and programs etc. The incumbent will collaborate with other Managers, Staff, Stakeholders and support to a variety of program and service initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage, lead, direct and assume overall responsibility for all NWAC Volunteers.
- Source and recruit volunteers and students with diverse backgrounds and experience through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.)
- Make sure that principals of diversity, inclusion and innovation are incorporated into the volunteer’s program.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, support, resources, and tools to a team of direct reports.
- Cultivate a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognizing volunteers’ efforts and supporting their experiences within organizational operations.
- Ensures adequate training and orientation is provided to volunteers.
- Be available as a resource to volunteers.
- Plan and implements volunteer recognition events.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer and statistics.
- Develop and carry out ongoing volunteer relations and program evaluation to ensure volunteer feedback and satisfaction with program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises NWAC Volunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Organization’s policies, training programs, and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining volunteers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Monitor work quality of volunteers, train as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Education, or a certificate program in volunteer management from a recognized community college program supplemented by five (5) to seven (7) years' recent, related experience including three (3) years in a management role or leadership role or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate volunteer programs and services within a large organization.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email.
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
